PIT

The PIT Crew program is unique to Crow, but is similar in emphasis to other camps’ teen training programs.  It emphasizes and exposes all aspects of camp ministry as being of equal importance, giving training for & experience in all areas of camp.

PIT Crew started in 1981 as an attempt to train young leaders in a camp setting. Every PIT Crew has its flavour and style and yet every year sees teens learning to serve and developing into “doers of the Word.” The program is all about learning about God, learning about each other, and learning how to give what God has given us. 

Goals:

Encourage growth in youth.

  • Learn all aspects of camp operation.

  • Train participants to serve God through serving one another, senior staff, and continue serving throughout the year at home, school, church, youth group, etc.

  • Develop Crew members as individuals so that they can effectively live life as God’s children.

  • Develop future volunteer staff for camp.

The PIT Crew program brings these goals together. Working in a camp ministry provides an opportunity to grow. Staff who are growing in their faith make for a dynamic ministry. Ultimately, any camp training program should benefit the campers and glorify God.

PIT Crew grads have been some of camp’s most solid and dependable summer staff members and it is camp’s desire to see this practice continue.

  • PIT stands for Personnel In Training. It is a leadership program run at Crowsnest Lake Bible Camp for 16-17 years olds. The program aims to grow participants; as individuals, as staff members, and as followers of Christ.

  • You can apply online. Apply here.

  • PIT applications are due April 15th. Late applications will be considered on a case-by-case basis.

  • We try to notify all applicants about whether or not they have been accepted into the program by May 1, 2023.

  • The program is offered for 16 and 17 year olds. Another way of wording that would be that we are typically looking for participants who would be starting Grades 11 or 12 in the fall.

  • PIT is approximately 6 weeks long. While each year the dates vary slightly, The dates for 2024 will be announced soon.

  • The PIT program is run out of Crowsnest Lake Bible Camp’s Lake site or Gladstone Mountain Ranch. One of these two locations is where the majority of the program will take place.

  • The PIT program is a free program. We do not charge participants to be a part of the PIT program.

  • No. After completing the PIT program, participants are no longer able to come as a camper. We have found that it is too difficult for them to make the transition from being staff to being a camper again. However, we do recommend that PIT applicants register for Senior camps. This way if you are not accepted into the program, you are still able to come to camp. If you are accepted into the program, you will be unregistered from your camp and the spot will be opened up for another camper.

  • No. You will complete your First Aid Certification as part of the PIT program. You do not need to have this certification before arriving at camp.
