To Tonsure, or Tonsno

I learned a lot about tonsures this week. I got a recommendation that I should have gone with the Celtic Tonsure (see images below). I heard that the haircut is deliberately unattractive, as a sign of true faith in God. I’ve had a lot of unattractive haircuts before, but never one that was deliberately unattractive.

It was a remarkable project: we raised more money than I thought we would, and I earned more laughter, and more grins, and more confused looks than I thought I would. You forget that you look “unattractive by a worldly standard” when you rush out the door to run some errands - but you remember again when the guy at the bottle depot gives you a really curious look.

I was interviewed by CBC News - a man on the street thing - but I didn’t ultimately make the final cut. I took the hair on the road (to Fernie & Nanton) and yes: I wore it to the critical thinking class in Lethbridge.

And on Saturday morning, clipped it all down. A fresh start for my hair, and a fresh start for Crow, with one BIG project (water) successfully & forever completed. I wonder what is next?
